Pentagon Preps for End of Year Zero Trust Blitz
Defense One reports that with the 2027 zero trust deadline, the Pentagon is revving up its cybersecurity efforts with plans for a new strategy, detailed guidance, and the review of dozens of “granular” action plans for defense organizations. Specifically, the Pentagon expects to release new cybersecurity guidance for operational technology, such as industrial control systems, as well as a new zero-trust strategy document, both by January.
CISA Unveils Plan to Strengthen Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures Program
ExecutiveGov reports the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has published its plan to enhance its Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) program, which identifies and disseminates information about cyberthreats. The CISA Strategic Focus: CVE Quality for a Cyber Secure Future serves as a roadmap and details priorities to ensure that the program meets the needs of the global cybersecurity community.
Trilateral Quantum Cooperation
The U.S. Department of State announced representatives from the United States, the Republic of Korea, and Japan met in Seoul on September 3-4 and in Tokyo on September 5 for two trilateral workshops on quantum industrial security. Experts from government and industry met to share best practices and discuss how to protect quantum ecosystems from physical, cyber, and intellectual property threats.
House Approves FY26 NDAA
The House of Representatives passed the fiscal year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act with a bipartisan vote of 231-196 on September 10. The NDAA authorizes $848 billion to modernize the U.S. military, provide service members a 3.8 percent pay raise, and strengthen border security efforts. The U.S. Senate should vote on its version in the coming days. More at ExecutiveGov.
PsiQuantum Raises $1B to Build Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computers
Quantum computing company PsiQuantum has announced a $1 billion Series E funding round intended for advancing fault-tolerant quantum systems. The investment will support the 130,000-square-foot test and assembly facility to build its largest test systems and scale the production of Barium Titanate, a high-performing electro-optic material, and other advanced materials.
